Choosing a career you love also affects your family more than you can imagine. For example, many people work jobs they dislike and when they come home they are so mentally and emotionally drained that they simply do not have the positive energy to deal with spouses/children/family members, or whoever is waiting for you at home. It is not fair to you and it is surely not fair to them. Most people stay at their jobs because they feel comfortable and they are afraid of change, but is it worth your happiness? That is the question you have to answer for yourself. Just know that you can change your situation at any given moment, the choice and the power are yours. A bad job will drain you from life more than you can imagine and it will affect every single aspect of your life if you let it.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you should just quit your job and drop everything, because we all have responsibilities, families, bills, and other aspects of life that need our care. However, if you do feel that your job drains you and you wish you were doing something else, then start small. Start with exploring your options or looking into your dream job or what will it take for you to follow your dreams. Do you need to take extra classes or attend conferences? Do you need to get a mentor or start creating a business plan? Can you follow your dream job where you are located geographically? Start your research and eventually all will fall into place as you learn more about your options for a happier and more fulfilled career and life. Next, network with others and see how they made the change or ask them about your field of interest. I recommend always following your passion and dreams because then you will not be disappointed. Don’t follow the money because once you are passionate about something and work hard on it, money will follow. That is what makes passionate entrepreneurs successful because they believe in their dreams and they prepare accordingly by conducting research, market analysis, and creating a thorough business plan. Meanwhile, keep your job, work hard, grow and learn, because before you work for your company, you work for yourself. You are there to educate yourself, learn new things, and advance your knowledge. As someone once said “You do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do.” So be smart, stay focused, and don’t give up on creating a happy life and a career that leaves you energized when you leave the office.
